Voluntary and unpaid donation of blood

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE BLOOD SERVICE IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF VOLUNTARY AND UNPAID DONATION OF BLOOD AND ITS COMPONENTS.

Why?

• Blood shouldn’t be a commercial product.

  If blood donation is a source of financial gain, the risk of attracting people in need of money to donate is greatly increased. Numerous studies show that financial motivation of donors is the main risk factor. Donating blood, these people often hide their true state of health, and as a result, the risk of taking infected blood increases. Of course, such blood is detected and destroyed, but in this way time and tools are spent on «pseudo help».

• Voluntary donors are the basis for ensuring a safe supply of blood and its components for subsequent transfusion to recipients.

  According to the latest data from the World Health Organization on blood donation, 62 countries have reached 100% voluntary donation, including Thailand, Turkey and Uganda, who reached this mark most recently.

• It is impossible to do good for money, the highest value of life is selfless help to another person.
• An increase in the number of donors in the country is an indicator of an improvement of the social climate, an indicator of the strengthening of the position of civil society.
