The material was prepared together with the Russian Federal Micro-Biological Agency and the Blood Service of Russia for the World Blood Donation Day, which is celebrated annually on June 14.
According to Olga Eichler, Head of the Blood Service Organization Department of the Russian Federal Micro-Biological Agency, the joint work with the TASS helped to take a fresh look at the results of the state program for the development of voluntary donation of blood and its components in Russia.
“In the framework of the project dedicated to this socially significant topic, we tried to answer questions in a simple manner from our potential and active donors and share global results we achieved thanks to the complete modernization of the domestic Blood Service. And I hope we managed it” - Olga Eichler.
The project is divided into 2 parts for first time donors and for active ones. The purpose of the first part is to motivate people come to the station, the purpose of the second is to make people comeback.
“The main peculiarity of the project is an interactive map of Russia, where you can see donation by five key parameters: the number of donors and donations per 1000 people, the rejection rate (the number of people who were denied in donation), first time donors per year and the average number of donations per donor per year” – from the press release.
By clicking on a map, you may see how the situation has changed in recent years according to a certain parameter in a particular region and how much it differed from the average value in Russia. Also the project helps to answer the main questions about donation and dispelled the most popular myths.
