Ivanovo Welcomes Grand Opening of State-of-the-Art Rosplasma Center with FMBA Deputy Head Mikhail Ratmanov in Attendance
On May 27, Ivanovo welcomed the opening of a new modular plasma center under Russia’s Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA), marking a key milestone in the implementation of the Concept for Increasing Plasma Blood Collection for Pharmaceutical Production. Developed by the FMBA under the directive of the President and the Russian Government, the strategy was approved on February 9, 2023, by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The new facility will have an annual capacity of over 30 tons of blood plasma.
The ceremony began with an address by Mikhail Ratmanov, Deputy Head of the FMBA, who emphasized the critical role of plasma donation in national healthcare:
“Donation is a personal contribution to the nation’s health. Since 2023, new centers in Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, and Cheboksary have increased plasma collection volumes by 40%, strengthening our healthcare system. Every donor is part of a larger mission to save lives, and the Ivanovo center will be pivotal in accelerating access to domestically produced blood products - such as albumin and immunoglobulins. I am confident that the region’s residents will demonstrate their social responsibility and compassion by donating plasma.”
The event highlighted the broader modernization of healthcare infrastructure. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, these centers can process over 30 tons of plasma annually and accommodate up to 160 donors daily, significantly improving the availability of blood-derived medicines and enhancing high-quality medical care.
Anton Belovolov, Director General of FMBA’s Rosplasma Research and Production Center, noted:
“The Ivanovo plasma center embodies advanced technology and streamlined procedures that prioritize donor safety and blood component quality. We aim for Rosplasma centers to serve not only as medical facilities but also as hubs of civic solidarity - spaces where donors are treated with care and respect while fulfilling their noble mission. This approach will further strengthen Russia’s donor movement.”
The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, university rectors, and regional donor movement organizers. Emotional tributes were paid to contributors, with FMBA medals, certificates of appreciation, and Honorary Donor of Russia awards presented to activists.
The nationwide plasma center network is a strategic initiative to ensure broader access to life-saving medications. FMBA’s Rosplasma centers - already operational in Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, and Cheboksary - are integrated into civilian infrastructure.
The Ivanovo center, located at 7 Krutitskaya Street (1st floor of the ‘Flagman’ Business Center), marks a major step in securing reliable supply of high-quality plasma-based therapeutics for medical institutions.

The Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia fulfills a critical state mandate to supply domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers with essential raw materials - donor plasma for fractionation.
For over 18 years, FMBA's Rosplasma Research and Production Center, part of the federal plasma center network, has produced high-quality pharmaceutical-grade Human Plasma for Fractionation.
All plasma collected by Rosplasma is transferred exclusively to Russian pharmaceutical enterprises for processing into life-saving medications.
In 2023, under the Blood Plasma Collection Expansion Concept (approved by Russian Government Directive No. 291-r on February 9, 2023), FMBA has significantly scaled up donor plasma procurement to strengthen national pharmaceutical sovereignty.
