Russia’s Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Olga Petrova: "Donating Blood Means Helping Those Whose Lives Depend on Our Kindness

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation actively collaborates with the Federal Medical-Biological Agency. Together, they implement initiatives aimed at promoting blood donation among young people.
One significant example of this collaboration is the All-Russian Student Donor Week, held with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. From January 20 to 27, as part of the nationwide #DavaiVstupai project, events were organized in honor of Russian Students’ Day. More than 9,000 people took part in the campaign, with around 3,000 students donating blood for the first time and over 1,400 young people joining the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
"Donating blood means helping those whose lives depend on our kindness. A recent amendment to the law has officially recognized blood donation as a form of volunteering. I am delighted to see that more and more students are becoming donors," said Olga Petrova, who is herself a regular blood donor.
During her visit, Deputy Minister Olga Petrova met with Acting Director of the Blood Center, Olga Makedonskaya, to discuss ways to expand cooperation, including new projects aimed at increasing youth participation in blood donation.
"Youth are the future of the donor movement, and strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education is key to inspiring young people to take action. It is essential for them to realize their responsibility for the future and to make blood donation a part of their lives, knowing that their donation today can save lives tomorrow," emphasized Olga Makedonskaya.
