The All-Russian #Be a Donor marathon, organized by the Federal Medical-Biological Agency together with the Molodezhka ONF with the support of the Presidential Administration for Public Projects, was held throughout 2020 in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The marathon was launched at the beginning of the novel coronavirus pandemic, when, due to restrictive measures introduced to combat the spread of infection, the Blood Service experienced a shortage of donors. A series of events made it possible to show social activity and replenish the blood bank of your city to maintain an irreducible supply of highly effective blood components.
Thanks to the measures taken at the end of 2020, the total number of donations decreased by only 8% compared to the same period in 2019. Correct and effective use of the resource of the Blood Service in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has made it possible to increase the volume of blood plasma procurement by 15% compared to 2019.
Since April, the preparation of covid plasma has begun in Moscow, and a coordination center has been created. Today, 57 out of 85 regions of our country are already harvesting covid plasma, 86 out of 200 blood transfusion stations are actively engaged in this. The awards ceremony was held with the participation of volunteers from the donor movement of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.
