Back in 1908, in his scientific utopian novel "The Red Star", he described the method of exchange blood transfusion and formulated his views on the function of blood as the main organizing mediator that ensures the viability of the organism.

William Harvey's theory of blood circulation, developed in the 17th century, fundamentally changed the views of doctors, who were previously guided by the works of Aristotle and Galen: blood is formed in the liver from food and moves through veins that blindly end in organs.
