The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Russia, together with the Federal Medical Biological Agency (FMBA of Russia), will promote blood and bone marrow donation. The corresponding agreement was signed by the Chairman of ICRC Russia Pavel Savchuk and the head of the FMBA Russia Veronika Skvortsova on April 28 at the All-Russian Forum of the Blood Service.

The XIV All-Russian Forum of the Blood Service took place on April 28–29, 2022 at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair exhibition complex. The annual event was organized by the FMBA. The conference dedicated to the promotion of blood and bone marrow donation of the ICRC Russia was held as part of the XIV All-Russian Forum of the Blood Service on April 28. More than 100 representatives of non-profit organizations, the Blood Service and regional social-entrepreneurial corporations (SECs) have been participated in.

The agreement provides the implementation of joint programs aimed at strengthening and protecting the health of citizens, reducing the death rate in Russia and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

“The agreement will help us develop and strengthen previously established partnerships, and will contribute to long-term, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation. This year, the ICRC Russia and the FMBA of Russia have already planned a number of joint events. In particular, we will combine our efforts in the development of free mass donation of blood and bone marrow” - Pavel Savchuk, Chairman of the Russian Red Cross.

Within the framework of cooperation, joint events, including holding donor days, conferences, seminars and working meetings, as well as organizing joint educational, scientific, practical, research and social programs and projects are planned.

“The FMBA fully supports initiatives aimed at implementing large-scale projects both to maintain regular gratuitous donation of blood and its components, and to popularize the donation of bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cells. I am sure that the agreement on social cooperation signed today with the ICRC Russia will allow us to develop new approaches to solving the strategic tasks facing us today” - Veronika Skvortsova, head of the FMBA of Russia.

The agreement provides for the creation of joint expert and consultative working groups.

As part of the Blood Services forum, the ICRC Russia signed a cooperation agreement with the National Health Fund. It is aimed at developing institutions of social partnership and ensuring the spiritual and physical health of the population, as well as the potential for health care and social development through the involvement of broad sections of the population to participate in the socially significant movement of responsible blood and bone marrow donation in Russia.

“Together with the National Health Fund, the ICRC Russia will prepare a number of guidelines and information materials on blood and bone marrow donation. We also plan to carry out a number of activities aimed at raising public awareness regarding the donation procedure” - Pavel Savchuk.
