A drop of blood - a chance to live: this weekend, more than 160 people became potential bone marrow donors

On September 23, open lectures on bone marrow donation were held at the «Blagosphere» Center in Moscow. PR manager of the Blood Center of FMBA Russia told about the procedure of bone marrow sampling and hematopoietic stem cells, and also debunked the myths associated with this type of donation. On that day, a typing point was established, which resulted in 51 entries to the Federal Register.
On Sunday, September 24, a charity race organized by the Leukaemia Foundation together with the Federal Medical-Biological Agency was held in the Victory Park on Poklonnaya Mountain. The event attracted more than 3000 participants, who showed their support in the fight against severe blood diseases. Employees of the Blood Center of FMBA Russia joined the race, having overcome a distance of 10 kilometers.

An important element of the race was the opportunity to join the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors. For this purpose, the Mobile Blood Procurement Complex of the Blood Center of the FMBA of Russia worked throughout the event.
All participants and guests were able to become potential bone marrow donors after a consultation with a transfusionist and a single blood sample. As a result, 114 new entries were added to the Federal Register.
