In 2023, more than 978 Gazprombank employees from 11 Russian cities took part in donor events. Each participant donated an average of 450 milliliters of blood. It took not more than an hour and saved someone’s life.
Donor events take place within the framework of the “GPB Team of good” project, which brings together Gazprombank employees to help those who need it. Thanks to this initiative, everyone has the opportunity to realize their volunteer potential, based on the bank’s value - attention to people.
“Every drop of blood becomes part of a valuable project - a project to save lives. Blood donation is a manifestation of not only mercy, but also responsibility, as well as concern for the health of society, which begins in our offices,” notes GPB project manager Yana Garnova.
Donors' motivation is to be useful to those who need their help and support right now. Employees understand that every donation is a contribution to someone’s life! That’s not all. After each donation, donors from the Head Office can donate a food subsidy to the partner charitable foundations: “Old Age in Joy”, “Bureau of Good Deeds”, “Rusfond” and the Yuna Center for the Rehabilitation of Temporarily Homeless Animals. In total, more than 130 thousand rubles were collected in 2023.
On May 27, Ivanovo welcomed the opening of a new modular plasma center under Russia’s Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA), marking a key milestone in the implementation of the Concept for Increasing Plasma Blood Collection for Pharmaceutical Production. Developed by the FMBA under the directive of the President and the Russian Government, the strategy was approved on February 9, 2023, by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The new facility will have an annual capacity of over 30 tons of blood plasma.
The donation campaign in support of blood donation was initiated by the State Duma Committee on Health Protection. First held in 2017, it has already become a cherished tradition for parliamentarians.
Leading up to national donor day on april 20, a nationwide awareness campaign took place across Russia. In the week starting April 14, 2025, blood donation centers across Russia hosted a series of events to raise awareness about blood, blood component, and bone marrow donation. These events offered the public a chance to attend lectures, take part in tours, join workshops and open discussions with medical professionals, connect with experienced donors, and, most importantly, make their own donations. Participants learned more about the donation process and heard real stories from people whose lives were saved thanks to donors.
The Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia (FMBA) has announced the launch of a major nationwide relay titled “Flame of Life.” The initiative aims to attract new donors to the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry and increase the chances of saving patients battling leukemia and other serious illnesses.
On March 27, 2025, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted the presentation of a new online initiative titled “Triangles: Stories That Must Be Told.” This special project is designed to strengthen the connection between generations and shed light on the heroic contributions of medical professionals and blood donors during the Great Patriotic War—individuals whose actions saved countless lives.
