More than 18 thousand students joined the donor campaign dedicated to the Day of Russian Students

These days, meetings with specialists and excursions to regional Blood Service offices were organized at educational institutions. Participants of the action were able to learn about the donation of blood and its components, the work of the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors, as well as join the country's donor movement and celebrate Russian Student Day with an important act.
“The blood service of the Russian Federation is actively developing. Its important component is the development of gratuitous donation as an element of ensuring safety. At the moment, donation in the country is 99% free. First of all, thanks to propaganda - the marathons and events on an all-Russian scale are being held regularly. Due to the centralized approach to working with Russian educational institutions, every year the donation is replenished with like-minded people aimed at the joint development of such an important healthcare sector. “Russian Student Week” takes the Blood Service one step closer to the younger generation, helps them join one of the main social activities and unlock the country’s donor potential, strengthening the donor movement with new healthy donor personnel. The development of a socially healthy society is judged by the number of volunteers. Over six days, more than 18,300 students from secondary and higher educational institutions of the country took part in the events of the All-Russian donor campaign “Russian Student Week”. At the same time, 5,900 young people aged 18 to 25 became donors for the first time. On behalf of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency, I would like to thank all donors for their noble mission,” commented Olga Eichler, head of the Department of Medical Support for Extreme Work and the Blood Service of the FMBA of Russia.
“About two years ago I learned about donation. At school lessons, and then at the academy, we were introduced to the important area of volunteer activity. I have always wanted to become a donor, but was too young. Now I am 18 years old and I can do it. “I feel great,” Olga Lyubimova, a 1st year student at the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, shared her impressions of her first visit to the Blood Center of the FMBA of Russia.
For more than 15 years, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency has been carrying out comprehensive organizational work to develop the Institute of the Blood Service of the Russian Federation.
Today, the Blood Service fully satisfies the needs of domestic healthcare for donor blood components, being the basis for the provision of high-tech medical care in various areas of clinical medicine, including emergency.
Thanks to annual events, the youth donor movement unites all regions of the Russian Federation. Hundreds of higher and secondary educational institutions in the country regularly hold donor events.
