Summer with benefits: more than 130 people took part in the Donor Day at VDNH

July 23 at VDNH was Donor Day, organized by the FMBA Russia and the National Health Fund with the support of the Coordinating Council of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for blood donation and bone marrow donation.

The mobile blood collection complex and medical specialists of the visiting team of the FMBA Russian Blood Center are located near the cinema «Lectoriy». Representatives of the departments of the Moscow government and municipal institutions, residents of the capital came to give blood. The event was attended by 130 people and 15 volunteers.

Director of Blood Center of FMBA Russia, a transfusion doctor of the highest qualification category Olga Makedonskaya noted the high interest of citizens, especially young people, in donation.

«FMBA Russia, being the operator of the Federal Registry of Bone Marrow Donors and the Federal Registry of Blood Donors and its components, regularly conducts activities to develop voluntary donation in Russia. The Blood Center, together with non-profit organizations and volunteers, invites all people who are concerned to become part of the donor movement and contribute to the common cause. It is particularly pleasing that the action took place here, on the territory of VDNH - a place where young people and families are concentrated. This allows us to draw additional attention to the donation and inspire more citizens to participate in the donation movement!» , said Olga Makedonskaya.

The donor day was attended by families with children. Young visitors of the donor action received gifts with the symbol of the action «Family donor code»: puzzles, notebooks, stickers, shoppers. The participants were also given free tickets to visit museums on the territory of VDNH. The children were given a volunteer to talk about blood and bone marrow donation. In addition, the site organized an opportunity to join the Federal Registry of Bone Marrow.

It is good that for people summer, holidays and heat are not an obstacle to do good deeds. People donate blood at any time because it is not just an important social mission for our citizens, but also a useful habit, a life position. We were happy to see so many people at the Donor Day today, which we traditionally organize in summer outdoors. Blood Service staff, volunteers and donors create a friendly and very warm atmosphere, turning the donation into a celebration. For the development of blood and bone marrow donation, it is important to support all who understand the value of human life. On May 27, Ivanovo welcomed the opening of a new modular plasma center under Russia’s Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA), marking a key milestone in the implementation of the Concept for Increasing Plasma Blood Collection for Pharmaceutical Production. Developed by the FMBA under the directive of the President and the Russian Government, the strategy was approved on February 9, 2023, by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The new facility will have an annual capacity of over 30 tons of blood plasma.

Russia’s Biggest Companies Join Forces with FMBA to Celebrate National Donor Day

Leading up to national donor day on april 20, a nationwide awareness campaign took place across Russia. In the week starting April 14, 2025, blood donation centers across Russia hosted a series of events to raise awareness about blood, blood component, and bone marrow donation. These events offered the public a chance to attend lectures, take part in tours, join workshops and open discussions with medical professionals, connect with experienced donors, and, most importantly, make their own donations. Participants learned more about the donation process and heard real stories from people whose lives were saved thanks to donors.
