Blood Donation Equated to Volunteering

A new law granting additional support to blood donors was signed by the President of Russia on December 28, 2024. This legislative initiative was developed by the FMBA of Russia in collaboration with the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy.

Under the new law, blood donors will now receive the same benefits and support as volunteers.

It also introduces new measures for student donors, including a day off similar to the one given to working donors. This change aims to encourage more young people to donate blood, promote healthy lifestyles among students, and foster strong civic values from an early stage of education.

Most provisions of the law take effect immediately upon official publication. However, the rule allowing students to take a day off for blood donation and the required medical examination will only come into effect on September 1, 2025.

On August 20, Head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) Veronika Skvortsova and Chair of the Elbrus Russian Leaders Club Tatyana Dyakonova launched an educational expedition aimed at creating modern, effective approaches to encouraging blood and bone marrow donation among young people. The two leaders wished the teams success in shaping youth-centered strategies for building a strong donor culture.

FMBA of Russia Promotes Donorship Through Series of Events at the “Territory of Meanings” Forum

The Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) organized a series of initiatives to promote blood and bone marrow donation among young people during the 11th All-Russian Youth Educational Forum Territory of Meanings. The program featured lectures, open discussions, and donation drives that received strong positive feedback from participants.
