Blood Donation Serves as Cornerstone of Russia's Health Security Strategy
Deputy FMBA Head Nikolai Solntsev emphasized the strategic importance of blood donation, describing it as vital national infrastructure.
"Our system currently meets 100% of clinical blood demands across all federal medical institutions, including military facilities, even during the special military operation," Solntsev stated.
The agency has overseen Russia's blood service operations and digital transformation for over fifteen years.
The discussion highlighted FMBA's implementation of its Plasma Collection Strategy through 2030. Five new high-tech plasma centers have been established in Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary, Perm, and Ivanovo, with combined annual capacity reaching 150,000 liters. Multiple regional blood service facilities have undergone modernization as part of this initiative.
Olga Eikhler, Head of FMBA's Blood Service Department, reported on the complete digital integration of Russia's donation network. The unified system now maintains records for over 11 million donors, has processed 59 million donations, and analyzes more than 537 million laboratory samples to support thousands of daily medical decisions.
Current statistics demonstrate growing public participation, with 1.5 million active donors - an increase of 45,000 from 2023 - completing 3.28 million donations this year. Notably, 99% of donations were made voluntarily without compensation.
The roundtable concluded with FMBA honoring several legislators for their contributions to donor movement development:

- Yulia Drozhzhina - Member, State Duma Health Committee
- Sergey Mironov - Leader, Fair Russia - Patriots - For Truth party
