Females of Kaliningrad participated in the donor action called “Lady-donor”

On the 1st of March, the “Lady – donor” traditional marathon was organized in Kaliningrad and continued until March, 4. This event was devoted to the International Women’s Day and took place at the Regional blood transfusion station.

The purpose of the action is to attract attention to the blood donation and reward regular female donors.

The action was attended not only by women, but men also supported the “Lady – donor” event by their participation. Apart from this, regular donors and Honorary donors also came to donate their blood.

339 donors took part at the action, majority of them are women. Almost all local donors donate their blood free of charge, and do not rely on any reimbursements, but to receive a flower on this day was quite a surprise for the women.

“We want to congratulate and thank women for their mercy and kindness. We accept about 50 to 70 donors on the regular base, and this number increases during such actions as “Lady – donor”,” says Nina Kabanchuk, the Head Doctor of transfusion station.

One similar action can provide an annual required volume of blood of oncology department of the Children's Regional Hospital. Do remember that you save lives by donating blood.
