Blood Service released a series of videos about donorship

28.09.17

Within the framework of the Program of blood donorship development, Blood Service created a series of videos, demonstrating all aspects of the donorship and also goals and tasks of the structure that unite donors and those who are in need of blood transfusion.

Videos tell us about the results that Blood Service has reached since the launch of the Program. They also illustrate how a person can contribute to the donor movement. According to the statistic, every third man in the world during its life needs a blood transfusion.

That is why development of the regular blood donorship is crucially important.

"Watching the videos will help to dispel doubts and exiting myths about donorship," said Olga Eichler, Head of Blood Service FMBA of Russia. "For example there are answers to such questions as: is blood donation considered a dangerous procedure, is it painful, how much a particular blood type is in need, why blood donorship has to be regular, whether there are age limits for donors and many others. Those who will decide to become a donor after the donation might find information about recommendations that he has to follow before the procedure."

In addition to the general information about blood donations, there is also information about how non-commercial organizations contribute to the program implementation. Such organizations help to develop the donor movement in our country. Engagement of business-community, government support and Mass Media involvement play a huge role in increasing the number of blood donors.

About the state program of development of voluntary donation:

Since 2008, the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation, FMBA and the FMBA Blood Center of Russia, have been implementing a large-scale Program of development of blood Service that covers all constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Blood Service development program consists of several areas: technical re-equipment of Blood Service offices, the establishment of a unified information database for procurement, processing, storage and safety of donor blood and its components, as well as a set of activities aimed at the development of regular donation of blood and its components.
