Interview with Ludmila Podlesnaya
What is the donor movement of the K.G. Razumovsky Moscow State University of Technologies and Management?
We started in 2017. First, we did the groundwork, taught the students about the importance of donor aid, how important it is to help others. Involved students, who at their faculties were engaged in the promotion of blood donation. An asset has formed: Indira, Maria, Daria, other guys. On the first Donor Day, we managed to attract 30 people. Every year our ranks are growing and it is very pleasing to note that almost 100% of participants of the donor movement said the main motive is not a monetary reward, but an opportunity to help people.
What precedes donor day at the university, what organizational efforts do you make?
On Donor Day, I ask the management to provide us with a room, to unload the schedule, so that as many people as possible may donate blood, not only students, but also university employees, teachers. Be sure to set the table so the guys could eat. Special attention is paid to those who donate blood for the first time. Remind about contraindications, as always from a large number someone is not allowed for health reasons or because of a violation of the diet.
122 people took part in the spring donor event! How did you manage to attract so many people?
Thanks to social networks Vkontakte and Telegram. Here we notify students about upcoming donor events, answer questions. News about the Donor’s Day is regularly updated on the university’s website. At the faculties we hang motivational posters, volunteers encourage guys to donate blood, the educational and methodical department helps to unload the schedule on the day of the event.
What other results of Donor Day can you note?
The main result - the guys realize the importance of what they do. Every year the number of people willing to help grows. The management of the university meets us halfway, promotes the holding of events.
How does your cooperation with the Blood Service work?
In advance we receive a call from the Blood Service to agree on the date, time and place of Donor Day. On the appointed date we prepare the room and wait for the medical team. Together we install equipment and everything necessary.
Our traditional question: what would you wish donors and those who are going to join the donor program?
I wish donors to remain responsive, strong and kind. We have a large number of people who donate blood on a regular basis, both among staff and students, and we appreciate their enormous contribution. Those who are just about to join the donor movement I wish to do so as soon as possible. We are always happy and grateful to everyone. Regular and voluntary blood donation is a simple but selfless step that everyone can take to support local healthcare and help to save lives!
Most people know very little about donation and therefore trust the most unreasonable myths...
Donor movement covers all who care about the fate of others, those who...
