Interview with Aizan Sultanmuratova
What does winning the All-Russian Blood Service Professional Excellence Competition and recognition from your colleagues mean to you?
It is, first of all, the joy of being able to present the important, coordinated, common work of the entire team of our blood transfusion station. I am proud of such a high assessment. It is a great honor to work in the healthcare sector, and I believe that this award is our common victory. I am sure that in the future I will strive to make every effort and knowledge to solve new problems and master modern technologies for collecting blood and its components. The results should be multiplied and maintained. Such a high award will always remind me that I am doing something important, necessary and loved.
Tell us about your professional path. Why did you choose medicine and transfusiology?
As a child, I always admired my mother, who worked in a hospital. I was sure that I would work in medicine. I was interested in blood tests for various infections, biochemistry and hemogram indicators, changes in indicators depending on the disease. As fate would have it, I ended up at a blood transfusion station, which I am very happy about. I love working with donors and I am not afraid of difficulties.
What professional achievements are you most proud of?
I am very proud that I have mastered automatic technologies for collecting and separating blood and its components. I am very interested in working in the fractionation department, where blood after centrifugation is separated into components (red blood cells, plasma, platelets). I am also proud that I know the method of harvesting hardware and pooled platelets, methods of pathogen reduction of components, and the production of cryoprecipitate.
What is your main professional task?
Our main task is to perform our work competently, professionally and conscientiously. Accumulate and expand knowledge and be always adequately prepared for work.
What is the most challenging part of your work? What brings professional satisfaction?
The most difficult thing in my work is the responsibility for the life and health of the donor every day, every hour. I must be in good physical and mental shape to perform my job as efficiently as possible. A well-finished working day, with a sense of accomplishment and positive emotions - that's what brings me professional satisfaction.
You are an Honorary Donor of Russia. Tell your donor story.
Ever since I started working in the blood service, I had the idea that I should become a donor. For the first time it was very exciting, not knowing how the body would react. Thank God, everything went well, and since then I have been looking forward to the next blood donation with pleasure. That feeling when you realize that you are saving someone's life is worth a lot.
Creating a calm environment for donors during donation is a very important nursing skill. What is your recipe for success?
Every health worker should be a psychologist. A friendly atmosphere, a smile, an individual approach to each donor and professional performance are the keys to success.
You work in both stationary and mobile settings. Tell us about the features of work in mobile settings.
A special feature is the unusual location of the workplace. Working with different teams - the military, students, employees of institutions and departments - requires a more attentive and responsible approach to the psychological preparation of the donor. After all, he also donates blood in an unusual medical environment and is very worried.
Our traditional question: what would you wish donors and those who are going to join the donor program?
I encourage all healthy people to join the donor movement. Donating blood is a noble and necessary cause; every drop of blood is a life saved. Only a person can donate blood and save a human life. I wish all donors to be healthy and happy!
Most people know very little about donation and therefore trust the most unreasonable myths...
Donor movement covers all who care about the fate of others, those who...
